FM Modulator Install

Hello,
I am trying to install an FM modulator for my XM radio. I would appreciate any suggestion on mounting locations of choice (probably close to the head unit as my wires are not very long). I am thinking about inside the compartment in the center console that has a sliding cover. Most importantly is the fact that I am not sure how to wire the power. My instructions say connect to the vehicals 12V power terminal. I have two red wires, one with a male connector and one with a female connector. Where do I connect these to my vehical. Also, can I just connect the ground to the vehical frame or is there a vehical ground I can tap into. Thanks for helping this rookie DIY'er.
Mike

use the screw on your fuse box to power the unit, use a multimeter to figure out which one is +12V. dunno if placing it near the fuse box will cause interference or not, but that might be an ok place to put it, out of the way and all. or else maybe a dashkit with a pocket and cover the front of the pocket, leaving it inside. could also hide behind glovebox.
