gain settings?

i installed my Girlfriends RF9400 cd player last weekend and i am going to be putting in her 550X to power her 2 subs tomorrow. i was wondering what should i set the gains at? the head unit has 5 volt preouts if i am correct. the subs are 12" Rockford Fosgate XLC's. they are rated at 200rms/400peak. i am probably going to install the punch power bass module, although her cd player has a seperate sub output that can be adjusted on the head unit. also what should i set the crossover at for this setup. they are sealed 12's in about 1.25-1.5 cubes each so i figure that i would want to set the gain at 80 right?

throw in a good test cd, turn the gains all the way down then turn the radio up to it's loudest point before it distorts, with some it is all the way, most are slightly pass 75%, then slowly adjust your gains up until the subs start producing distortion, back it of a slight bit and you are done.

Well, you got your gain setting instructions, now for the x-over...you want low pass (LP), and set the Hz somewhere between 55-75....whatever sounds best to you.
