PLEASE HELP IN SELECTING SUBS

I have spent two weeks going arround to different shops checking out stereo equipment. I have narrowed it down to 2 choices in order of preference.

1) Eclipse 12" Aluminum dvc

2) Rockford Fosgate Power HX2

Now while searching 3 out of the 9 stores i went too carried Eclipse. Two of them were getting out of Eclipse because of the poor customer service and problems with the subs. For example, if there is a problem with your sub it takes 6-8 weeks for it to get resolved. The other one shop said there is no problem. Is this true or not, and is there anyway for me to find out exactly???

I'm putting 2 of whichever sub in my car. I am going to run it off a RF 1500bd (POWER) that i'm getting brand new for 1100cad (is that a good price). I don't know exactly what components i"m getting for the front and rear so any suggestion would be great. However, i have decided to run them with the RF 750X (POWER) (899cad). I know that it's more power then I'll ever need but I'm going to match the heat sink so i can have a sweet install.

So
1) which subs should i get, and how much cash (CAD) do you think i should pay for them???
and
2) are those good prices for those amps?

Thanks

rockfords, 10 times louder, sound like ***
eclipse's, i love em....
a 1500 might be slightly too much for the eclipses if you dont set the gain right, and also, all rockford amps are generally overpriced
and a 750 is way too much for components... youll be fine with 75 per channel, even less

hey man here are my thoughts. i wouldn't get either one of those subs. if the customer service sucks then dont get it, and the RF sound like **** most of the time. i just ordered some L5's and i am sure you could actually run 2 L7's off of that amp and they are supposed to at least sound decent. you could also get one 13.5 W7, an IDMAX, or a Adire Audio Brahma.

I have a single Eclipse Aluminum DVC 12" running off a Kicker 400.1 (400 rms / 800 max).

I love it. Sounds very clean, goes way deep, and is punchy too.

The single Eclipse 12" is actually louder than the two 12" Soundstream SPL's it replaced. It also sounds night and day better.

I actually got it in an attempt to save space in my trunk. One great driver vs two decent drivers .... Plus with my new amp board I have tons of room in the trunk, and most everything is protected.

Personally I doubt you could go wrong w/ either setup (personally I prefer the Eclipse though).

The high's amp is overkill. You don't need anything that powerful.

The sub amp is perfect. Just be sure to set the gains properly and you should never have a problem.

I would suggest any really good components up front, and anything in the rear will do for a little fill (ie. components in the rear is overkill). Having the rears very loud at all compared to the fronts will mess up the imaging of the system. Thats why in my system I have my fronts on an amp and the rears off deck power, plus I still have the fader set to +10 front.

I have Diamond M6's up front and love them. From what everyone says you can't go wrong w/ .... Diamond, Infinity, JL, Kicker, Rainbow, MB Quart, Focal, Boston, etc .....

if you have it rounded between those 2 your really not doing your homework.. 2 4ohm DVC subs gets you eeither 4ohm or 1ohm mono loads...the BD1500 puts out max power into 2 ohms... 2 Eclipse 88120.4 SVC's are what you'd want..they really outperform the HX2's in sound quality. THey won't get "as" loud in a sealed setup..but with 1500Wrms they'll be louder than your ears can possibly handle anyhow. Also 750Wrms with normal music and not bass tracks is no sweat for the subs.. Eclipse tests then for 24 hours with 500Wrms at their resonant frequency (in box) A local shop owner runs a single 12" Alum off an Ar 2500CXL (1100Wrms) and it handles it no problem...even handled full power for a minute with a 55hz note..

You are right about the service though..The Canadian distrubotor for eclipse..isn't exactly quick on sorting things out...but the sub should never have any issues which would require you to bring it back on warranty.. the Eclipse 8600 subs on the other hand..are quite unreliable
