How to wire tweeters?
I'm getting some Pioneer tweeters.
I searched and found no DIY for installing tweeters.
so.... How do i wire them?
I have Pioneer component speakers all around if that makes any difference.

Are you wiring them from the head unit or from an amp? Did the tweeter come as a set with a woofer? I assume that you don't have stock tweeters because you have an LX?
What you should do is wire to the crossover that should have come with your components, and then there should be two outputs on the crossover...one output should be designated to be wired to the tweeter, and the other should be designated to go to the woofer. just wire it from there. The crossover can be put pretty much anywhere in the car: door, under the seat, kicks, trunk.

What will sound better....mounting them on the door panel or close to where the EX tweeters stand? (bottom of pillar)

I have had mine in the door, and I now have mine in the trunk...and honestly I can not tell the difference. I think in the kicks would be easiest though. You can just use some zip ties to hold 'em down in there.

I'm not much of an audio expert...
A trusty local audio shop around my house wants:
$50 for dome pioneer tweeters (i guess glued to the pillar?)
or $80 for flush mount on doors for pioneer tweeters.
sound fair? Or maybe i could buy tweeters and you could help me install them?

I could help you but I have only done it once before in my gfs car and they were crooked when I first did it Also, I am not a college student anymore, I work full-time and have my family so my time is limited, but I would be willing to help. You may want to try and get them done professionally because they will look nice, but $80 seems kinda expensive.
Would you be able to use the tweeter housings that come with EXs. I have an EX, and I was able to put my tweeters in with only a few modifications. I wonder if the tweeters would fit into those? It was pretty easy to put my MB Quart tweeters in stock location.

Ak I dont remember installing component speakers in your car? Are you sure they are component speakers. I would have remembered seeing that on the box. If so do you have a crossover to connect your tweeters? I dont remeber seeing a crossover with the speakers or else we would have installed them for ya at that same time. Exactly what model speakers did you get?

You sure they are not components? They come with tweeter and midrange...
Pioneer TS-A1667 6.5" 3-way Front
Pioneer TS-A6995 6"x9" 4-way Back

No, I don't think those are components. Components are when you have a seperate tweeter from midrange/woofer. Adding a tweeter to you system my make it sound worse because you already have tweeter connected to your speakers.

You have a lot of choices, and it is personal preference. You probably heear more sound coming from the back, because the back speakers are level with your ears and your front speakers are down low aiming at your feet. I would suggest amping your front speakers and leave you back running off of the headunit. I did this with my gfs car (with the components in the front amped) and it sounds amazing!!!
Before you go out and buy tweeters, you may want to save up and by an amp and amp wiring kit to amp your fronts. If it still sounds like the stage is to low for you, you can wait and buy components later. If you just buy an amp for your current speakers in the front I think it will make a world of a difference...just make sure that you get an amp that matches your speakers powerwise, and that your HU has atleast one pre-amp output.

Thanks for the tip. Any suggestions in front speaker amps? Something below $150 hopefully... below $100 preferred. Brand does not matter...

Well, I think you speakrs are rated for 50 watts RMS, so you wanna look for something right around 50 per channel.
Here are some:
MTX Amp (MTXs are usually a lil under rated power wise, so this should be perfect)
Kenwood
Check out the Kicker, JBL, MTX, Alpine, Kenwood, Fosgate amps at Onlinecarstereo.com and Ikesound. They are all good priced decent quality amps
Onlinecarstereo is local in LA, and takes a day or two to get stuff, but you have to pay tax. Ikesound is cheap, but shipments can be awhile, and they questionable service and business practices.
I will look for more after I get back from lunch...kinda in a rush now.

If I remeber i will the new Crutchfield catalog to the meet tomorrow. I wouldn't suggest buying from them, but they have a lot of the specs for amps that are in the power and price range that you need.
