Voltage of Preamp outs
ok.. simple enough question:
deck outputs at 4V RMS
amp input says 0.15 - 3V input
am i going to destroy the amp? or should i just choose another HU to avoid problems?

one other quick question
why shouldn't you wire a DVC sub in stereo?? (lets just say that its a 2-chan amp.. and u want to run one chan to each vc)
aren't the sub outs on most decks already mono?
i mean... i can understand why you would have to bridge the left and right channels if they are going into the same sub (cause the vc would be potentially pulling/pushing in different directions)..... BUT if you have sub outs on your deck, shouldn't both those sub outs be mono (not left and right)
and if they arent, is it just possible to cross the wires?
ok.. so maybe it wasnt another quick question

well wiring a DVC 4ohm sub in stereo to 2 channels is fine..but you'll only be giving it half the power that you can.. ..it depends on the ohm load of the sub and the ohm load your amp is stable to..
There won't be any push-pull conflicts unlss you mess up the wiring in which case the amp will just immediately go into protection..

well.. lemme explain the stituation a little better
i was talking with u about the memphis amp over email
it puts out 150x2 @ 4ohms OR 300x2 @ 2ohms
hears the catch.. its mono stable at 4 ohms... and stereo stable at 2 ohms
now, i have one alpine SWR DVC sub (4ohm + 4ohm)
i could run it stereo, one VC per channel (each chan at 4 ohms.. then each VC at 150W)
or i could run it stereo, with the VC in parallel (one chan at 2 ohms.. and each VC at 150W)
BUT i cant do what i really wanted and run the channels bridged and the VC's in parallel (mono at 2 ohms.. each VC at 300W).. but im not even sure if that would be safe.. cause alpine recommends 300W RMS to the whole sub (150W per VC), and that would mean doubling the power..... not exactly a bad thing, but i can be a little careless with the volume **** sometimes
EDIT:
the only reason i thought it was bad to hook up a DVC driver with stereo was because i read that in a few different places.. but i trust u more than some of the stupid people you can find on the net... so ill take your word for it

thx.. thats what i thought id end up doing
i just wasn't sure about memphis's specs.... i didnt know if they made the numbers higher than they are
EDIT: and i didnt know if wiring the DVC in stereo was a good idea
anyway.. thanks for all the info!
