Just installed a new deck
I replaced my Pioneer 3400 with a Kenwood x859. I only bought the Pioneer in the first place cause I wasn't planning on doing to much to the audio. I wanted to have more go than show(I eventually woke up a realized I drive a civic).
First off, the deck looks way better in the dash kit than the Pioneer did. And boy am I ever glad I have built in crossovers now. It sounds 10x better just from setting them up properly.
Anyway, next thing up for me is to do my trunk. I'm pretty much stealing a design from a car I saw on sounddomain.

It will be almost identical except I have 2 Infinity Perfect 12's and my amps are MTX

To let you know in a forward firing sub setup like that you often lose most of your low end cabin gain so low end bass really suffers...if your gonna go with a setup like that I'd reccomend going for a low tuned ported enclosure to keep your low end strong.....I had a setup much like that one only I used my spare tire well as part of the enclosure for more airspace and went ported ..it worked out very well..but if I was using a sealed setup I would have had very little low end bass
Glad to hear you like the new HU. About the sub, I would fire it toward the rear of the trunk, especially if it is a single sub setup in a sealed enclosure, otherwise you might be pretty disappointed with the results.

Never building a ported box myself(I've only ever built a bandpass and sealed), does it matter if the port faces forwards or can I face it to the rear. I don't know if i should be worried having a port facing forward with the seats being up.'
btw, thanks for the advice so far
EDIT: With 2 subs ported, does each sub need its own chamber or do i just have to make sure that I have 2 ports?

the ports should be on the same plane as the woofers..you can mount them flush to the enclosure..a bandpass is nothing more than a sealed box mated to a ported box...
The carpet I got from a stereo shop .... typical stuff they have. It's 3' wide, and about $10 for every 3' long.
Attatched it to the board w/ spray tacky adhesive from Lowes, like $5 a can.
The board was a precut 1/2"x48"x16" pine laminated board. Cut it down to about 40 inches long and attatched it on an incline.
The thing to remember is be sure to drill all the holes before you attatch the carpet. You can't add holes later on without ****ing it all up.
Order I did things was ......
1) Cut the board to overall size.
2) Lay all the equipment out on the board.
3) Drill all the holes needed.
4) Attatch the carpet.
5) Cut X's in the carpet with a utility knife over the drilled holes.
6) Mount everything and attatch to car.
7) Connect all wires.
Good luck, and feel free to ask any more questions.
