active or passive

Whats the difference in active and passive crossovers?

Passive = the ones that you get with a set of components

Active= an electric one that usually has to be grounded and have a power wire going to it. These tend to be better, but passives work well for things that they are optimized for. Actives are good when you need to tune and adjust.
