Another set of weird HU questions...
So I just installed my new hu and it has a few features that I am not sure how to optimize...so maybe one of yall can help?
The HU has built in low pass and high pass filters for the three outputs, so I am wondering if I should use these instead of the filters on my amps? The HU is a K. Excelon KDC-X559.
If I do use the filters on the head units, should I set the amps to full range (or set the crossover as high as possible, ie: 300hz for the bass amp)? Will crossover slopes be changed if I also set the filters on the amps as well as the ones on the HU?
I currently have the nonfading output to my sub-amp set to LP at 80hz, the rear to my midrange set at 80 HP, and my tweeters set to 220 HP. By the way I only have one set of components, and they are bi-amped, so each speaker has it's own dedicated channel. The tweeters are crossed over by the passive crossover at 2500hz, but I still have the high pass set before the passive crossover. Does any of this seem like I have set something wrong?
Sorry for all of the dumb questions, but my amps do not have the best crossovers (especially the JBL), so I want to know what is best

Thanks!

Set all your amps to full range and just use the crossover on your HU. This, I believe, is the best way to do it. You can modify the frequency range your speakers receive from the convenience of your drivers seat. If something doesn't sound right you don't have to stop your car and get out to change the crossover settings on your amp. Just make sure that you are getting the entire spectrum of frequencies. So for example, don't set your high pass to 120 Hz and your low pass to 100 Hz cause then you'll be missing the frequency range from 100 - 120 Hz. Finally just set your crossovers accordly to the music you listen to and you'll be good to go.

I agree, thats what I do.
IMO using the deck crossover sounds night and day better than the amp crossovers.[hr]
