Hooking Components up to HU
i have a 2001 Civic LX Auto Sedan. My amp is broke and i need to get a new one but i am getting rid of the car soon so i dont fell like wasting the money. How do i hook my front components into the HU so that the HU is what powers them? thanks

Just connect the stock wiring up the your speakers. I'm assuming that your stock wires are still there. If you have an aftermarket HU and are running RCA's to your amp and then wires from there to your speakers, you'll have to connect the stock wires to the HU speaker wires. So just make sure the speaker wires from your HU are connected to your speakers in your door. Should be a quick fix, I think.

Hey swkfilms. Check the labeling on the aftermarket wiring harness. Usually on the wires, they are labeled as to which wire goes to where (i.e. LF +, left front positive, etc.) Basically, sit and look for a while, figure out which is which, and there you go. The only thing that I can recommend though is that if you do this, don't cut the wires, go to RadioShack or somewhere and get a wire-tap clip (one piece clips over the wire and taps into it, with a male wire connector on the side) or just trim back some of the wire insulation with razor knife. If you cut the wires, that actually can void the vehicle warranty. Just thought you should know.
