Neon Undercar Glow
ok.. quick question for those who have done this
how did you manage to avoid melting your tubes when placing them in the rear (close to exhaust)..
i know the tubes are supposed to be durable, but the exhaust gets a little hot.. just a little
so.. if anyone can say how they managed to deal with this, it would be a great help
thanks

I've only installed kit on CRX's which have exhaust systems that hang about 3ft down from the body so their no where near the tubes, so this is just a guess/suggestion.
wrap the tubes in ceramic cloth (like the stuff around a header). or use a similiar cloth or material and just wrap it around the tube where it comes into contact with the exhaust?

one more question... that bumper is metal right? did you use a dremel or something to cut through it?

thanks for all the info mex
i dunno why i thought it was metal.. i hadn't taken a good look at it yet
well.. i just got finished installing the switch and testing it (sooooo cold in my garage up here in canada
), and the transformer and relay should only take a few more minutes
now i just have to get the car on lifts so i can drill into it to mount the tubes under the sides (unless there is an easier way)

just be careful when drilling under your car. you don't want to hit a crucial wire loom or drill into the interior by mistake. i mounted my side tubes in a way that they're being supported by my OEM sideskirts. didn't have to drill at all

i know what mex means (at least i think so)
the oem skirts are hollow and curve kinda like a C, except that there are holes underneath... its possible that you could stick the tubes into the skirt and mount it again so that the light could pass through
thats what im planning on doing, but i dont see how you can get around drilling for the mounting brackets
EDIT: actually, i did hear once about someone using zip-ties to mount them

you just take out the screws, slide the tube underneath the mounting points, and tighten the screws NOT ALL THE WAY but just enough to hold the tube in place snugly and keep the sideskirt on. screw them in too far and you'll crack the tube i bet.

good to know that the tube will mount easily into the skirt
have you had any problems with it shifting forward or back during hard braking or accelleration???

mex, where did you put the transformer??
i was thinking of putting it upfront (behind the top grill, above the exhaust headers) cause thats the only place with a lot of space
but i dont know if its waterproof...
did you put your transformer in a waterproof part of the car?
i know we have different kits, but i was just thinking that you might have found a good spot for it that i havent looked at yet

Do you know if the street glow gold line series is any brighter than the blueline series?
I'm assuming their exactly the same except the blueline have the transformer included in the tube and the goldline have the transformer seperate, but I wanted to check to make sure.
anyone ever seen the two kits side by side?

the Goldline series has a more powerful transformer, I can guarantee Goldlines will be brighter.
I didn't really mount my transformer anywhere, i just wedged it into the side of my engine bay. it's a real mess

i also took a pic of the rear neon placement:
