6.5 for the front-Not all fit depending on magnet legth. Use cruthfield.com to get an idea of the measurements. Don't buy from there though, WAY too expensive.

6 by 9 for the rear-90 % of the 6 by 9 speakers made today probably do not fit the whole because of magnet clearance. So you will really need to look around for some that fit without hitting the trunk springs.

It would probably be a better idea to buy him front speakers and a small amp to go with it, instead og 6 by 9...that is my 2 cents

I'd agree with fonto, the rear are really troublesome to install, and front speakers are the ones needed for a good sound stage. Also, since you are planning on getting tweeters as well, i'd reccommend getting a component set for the front and a small 2 channel amp to power the front components.

i bought 6.5 mb quart Q components, had to cut through the metal on the doors to fit my 6.5's, no shops would do it, they are lazy asses around here apparently, i wish i had just bought 5.25's, it's easier to fit smaller into a bigger hole than bigger into a smaller....if professionally installed by a quality shop (none found near albany NY yet) then 6.5's are the ay to go

The front doors have 6.5" speakers with 2 inches of depth. The rears are 6x9 in the coupe, and 6.5" in the sedan. The coupe has 3 7/16 depth in the rears, and the sedan has 8" depth. I can't help you with replacing tweeters, since my DX didn't come with them. I simply mounted some flush aftermarket Pioneers in the doors.

Yeah, the MB Quart psd 6.5s were a bi@tch for me to put in...I had to dremel the speaker ring on the door. I bought a 6.5 inch spacer, so that ofcoarse did not fit, soI had to thin the top edge of the spacer with the dremel, and then the speaker barely fit!!!

The tweeters were way easy to install though!

Front= 6.5
Rear+ 6 by 9, but most will not fit
Tweeter=an inch, i think
