installing 2 amps
i need help in how to install 2 amps, one is going for the subs, and the other one for the 6x9 if someone can help ill appreciate Simple, get a distribution block. Whatever gauge wire you are running to each amp, double the size to the distribution block, then run your power to each amp. You can also get distribution blocks for ground wires as well. Depending on what type of amps and what crossovers, you may only need to run one set of RCA's. One set from the deck to one amp, then out of that amp into the other. Not sure what else ya wanna know, but ask if this doesn't help.

seek out a circuit city, they are like $30 for 4 way dist block. i ran 4 gauge, split it to 8 and it's fine. i am running 2x150 and a 4x100 at low gain (that's RMS) and it is plenty of juice. 8 gauge can carry like 30 amps, which is fine for your amps. besides, thicker wire can be a b!cth to bend, so keep it simple
That isn't necessarily true. I have a JL 250/1 which is probably at least 400W rms. I started with 8 gauge and the current couldn't keep my cap filled and my amp was clipping out from lack of current. Your wire can never be too big, but it can be too small. Your call tho.
I asked a while back about how to install a dual amp wiring kit. You dont need the kit but the diagram that RegularJoe made for me should help you out.

I would argue if I had fact, but I don't have any way to measure the actual wattage. That amp I have is on 1 12w3 and I have the gain all the way down. If I turn it up at all, the sub pops from overexcursion. If you think 250W rms is enough to overexcurt that sub, then maybe you are right, but I wouldn't think so. BTW, it is an awesome amp, the best d block I have ever owned. Oh yeah, and as far as impedence and voltage goes, it doesn't matter. That is the beauty of these amps, no matter what, the output is the same, I agree with you there (R.I.P.P.S.).

popping my friend, is usually a sign of clipping, not overexcursion =) ... also, JL amplifiers, as with most higher quality amplifiers (PPI, etc) all are built for stability and quality, not raw power. To an older audiophile with massive amounts of money, they dont care about power, because theyll just buy a more powerful amp, they care for stability. They want their amp to be pushing 250 watts at all time, no more, AND no less...

actually, 8 gauge can carry closer to 50 amps too, maybe slightly more if it goes a short dist. i.e. from dist block to amp.
