Box for an HX2

I'm getting a custom enclosure done for my HX2, and was wondering what you guys suggest i do. I've heard that Plexi doesn't sound as good as MDF, is this true? Also, what type of box should i be running? Ported? The most reputable shop in town is doing it for me, at half price, so i figured why not.

Also, how good are 2001 Model Clarion Class T amps? Someone is trying to sell me his amp, which is rated at 1000W max to push this HX2, 350CDN with a 3 year warranty, and remote bass controller. Should i do it?

the 2001 Model Clarion amps share the same borads as Arc Audio amps but use cheaper internals..overalll quite nice and not too expensive..the amp would be a good one..

For the sub...well goober..you want stupid loud..you want something resembling clean bass...what kind of music do you listen to?..does the amp have a subsonic filter?...

About the Plexi/MDF both share very similar damping properties..neither "sounds" better..neither should make any sound of their own... Provided the plexi is thick enough and doesn;t flex..it's all good.. Most Bandpass boxes and such which have plexi windos only use 1/4" Plexi and it flexes a little with some heavy bass.. 1/2" or thicker would be best..depending on how big the plexi window is...

for the sub, i want more sq than stupid loud. but with an RF sub how much SQ will i get? should i just build a box for an IDMAX? which i'm still trying to get, surprisingly, but my current monetary situation isn't allowing it, although i have yet to even get a price from a local shop (and how i've tried).

I listen to, Rap, R&B, and techno (House, Tekhouse, straight techno, tribal, etc).

BTW mohawk, when you hit 140 something with the IDMAX and 500watts, was that outlaw or IASCA ?

EDIT: I was just thinking, maybe i could keep the HX2 for winters only, then swap it for the max in spring/summer/fall. is this a decent idea? With a good box, it shouldn't sound THAT bad, or will it?

Assuming it's the 12..it'll work pretty good good in 1.5 cubes sealed..which is generally what the IDMAX works best in as well....Make the box 1.6 cubes gross and fill it half way with polyfill and it should be pretty good..

Cheers

Mohawk, you still need to give me the details on the IDMAX and hitting 140 something with 500RMS, I'm curious.

I only have the punch HX2 . But I didn't have to pay for it so I don't mind. someone who owes me money gave it to me as interest .
