best HU display?
best HU display?
What is a good HU that I can get for a reasonable price that will still allow me to see the display? I know the Organic EL ones work well, but they can be a little pricey, I'm going to be running a separate amp and everything, so it doesn't have to be anything great, but I do want to be able to see the display. Anybody have any recommendations? Thanks.
From the sounds of it you have listened to everyone rave about the Pioneer Organic displays. Don't fart around, do it right, get the real deal, and enjoy the hell out of it when you finally do get it.
I actually downgraded in quality and features to the 7400MP just so I could see the display without any trouble even in the bright sun. Best decision I ever made ....

Well, I like the pioneer's a lot, but the price just kinda bothers me. I have an amp, a set of pioneer speakers in the rear, and infinity components up front, I just didn't want a real flashy HU that might attract attention, especially since I haven't gotten an alarm yet. Maybe I should get an alarm first and then get the hu. Oh well, things to think about.
panasonic cq-df series...they have a nice "indiglo" type background and you can set the contrast and the brightness. it's cheaper than pioneer, but during the day, you can't see the display as well as the pioneers... i mean, you can still see it, it's just not as distinct, from what you see at nite.
Anybody know if HU's like this one will look alright in daylight? http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...DXM610&o=m&a=0

I've seen one like that in action. Not very bright. I have the JVC KD-SH707 Mp3 Player. It's very good at the highest contrast setting. No complaints, even in bright sunlilght. Auto dimming too, so it dims when you turn on your lights. You can turn this feature off though.
