strange things!!!

I don't know why, everytime I open my windows while I am driving on freeways, my speakers get very very loud, then I shut the windows, the sound gets much much lower, does anyone know why? thanks...

do you drive a civic? do you drive a cougar?? does your stereo have some type of auto equalization, like mercury cougars, that turns the volume up when the ambient noise increase? just a thought!

Generally what happens is you are relasing sound pressure, bass usually always sound louder with the windows down. I mean it shouldn't be amazingly loud but you will hear an increase in sound pressure, becuase you are letting sound waves develop.

in my car, its usually with bass... i noticed it too so i came up with a theory, although im probably wrong... theres less interference because the sound isnt bouncing off the glass next to your head, so the bass sounds clearer, although it seems to be the opposite with my mids and highs

If it's Bass..by opening a window your allowning bass waves to escape and not bounce around the cabin and cause frequency cancellation..Specially around head level..but when you open the window at the dash..and footrest areas SPL drops...but from your listening point..you have less cancellation so you hear more bass.. Ahh Psycho acoustics
