How would this sound?

I'm going to be getting a F-150 for christmas. My dad wants a nice truck so he trading my car in to help with the payments. I want to put 2 15" kicker L7's or L5's and 2 1000 watt amps in there. How do you this this would sound. I know its gonna be expensive but i get a little discount from some friends. Give me some feedback.

well, first add up how much you're spending on that, then look at other potential setups for that amount of money... i personally don't like kicker subs, so thats my opinion... how much are ya gonna spend on it??

I will probably be spending around 300 per sub and 400 per amp. I know i can get an 800 watt punch amp for 300 from a friend. I want it to be real loud and heard from far away. If you have any other suggestions on other set ups let me know. Im open for all comments.

ampwise, you could get jbl bp1200.1 amps for 285, 400 more watts than the punch, and speakerwise, i would have to look into it.

what're you gonna do in terms of the interior speakers in the truck? If you just put subs in and don't do anything else it'll sound like major ***.

It would be too loud to sit in comfortably.

is it going to be ported or sealed box? if ported jbl 1200.1 wont work for you because you will need a subsonic filter
look on the net you can find the stuff much cheaper!

i take it your looking fo spl (are you going to compete?)
try and find a Earthquake D2 shredder and 2 Shocker Exreams 12's it will most likely be too much (thats always a good thing)

like ****. but anyone who doubts the SPL capabilities of kicker has never heard tem. will be ungodly loud in the proper box (over 4 cubes ported, each 15L7)

trucks have a problem with low frequency extension, so if youve ever heard those woofers in a sedan, you should expect yours not to play as deep, but they will kick out a HELL of alot harder, if your not used to high levels of spl, i would also expect for you to get headaches everytime you crank it (EVERY time) for quite awhile till you get used to it...

i hope its an extended or king cab, youll never fit those woofers in a standard cab unless you port the cab.....

I plan on replacing all the factory speakers inside. The truck wil be extended cab and im expecting the box to take up the whole extended cab. I also plan on a custom made ported box. My cousin makes speaker boxes so that can be done for the price of the wood.

have you thought about going for all out SPL? basically you sacrifice a small bit of your low frequency extension (what little you have anyways, so you might as well say **** it) for a HUGE gain in SPL. i was at a competition up in frement, where someone had a pair of 12L7's in a ported box that took up the ENTIRE back of his extended cab truck (up to the windows) with what looked to be at least 3 square feet of port area. he was pulling 155 on the dash, you could easily break 150 in a slightly less SPL oriented box, all you have to do is decide to sacrifice a small bit of LFE and shatter the idea of having a flat response.

just a thought......

i don't plan on doing competition but i just want it to be loud. i dont want it all to be just straight bass, i want to be able to still understand what the singer is saying. i've had 12's in past cars but i decided to go for 15's this time.

many many installs are out there with 50x2 amps powering just a component set in teh front to match the woofers in the back, and keep up just fine with 150+ dB of bass. its just all install dependant.

but tuning a bit higher than normal (high 30's, low 40's) would certainly make you pretty much the loudest car to be heard in jack in the box parkinglots at 11 for some good late night stereo seshes, or wherever people in your town collect to bump at night.
