BOOYA!!! My system is almost done!

After countless trips to Home Depot (for the numerous f-ups I made), I have finally finshed my custom DIY trunk setup.

I created a false floor which is elevated about 2 1/2-3 inches above the stock floor. I went with this particular setup since I hate huge boxes that take up the entire (or half) the trunk, and I need quick access to a spare (the roads in Atlanta suck :moon.
My system includes:
Pioneer 6300 HU
MB Quart DSD 213 components (up front)
Rockford Fosgate 6 1/2's (rear deck)
Pioneer 12" TS-W3041DVC
Three old school Sony Explode amps (pushin' less than 500 watts rms total)
Boss 1 farad digital cap
Below are a few pics/steps of the custom trunk install process:
First step was to reposition the spare and create a 1 cu ft. box out of 3/4" MDF.

Next, I created a sort of skeleton basefor the false floor. (It was pain in the to get the shape of the trunk just right). It rests ontop of the box and is supported with a few 3 inch posts.

I was in a hurry to finish this project, so I made the amp rack using a double reinforced cardboard box
. The crossovers and distribution block mounted to a piece of plexiglass which sits over the two amps.

I created the top out of 1/8 inch plywood (should have been thicker, but I was trying to spare some weight).

I then cut windows in the floor, added carpet, and plexi. I also added a 12 volt computer fan plus some blue LED's to highlight the amps.

I must admit, I saved a alot of money on this install and I'm proud that I did all of the work by myself. The only tools I needed was a dremel, jigsaw, srewdrivers, and wire cutters to install everything. By the way, this system sounds NICE . I already pi$$ed off the old lady that stays above my apartment today.

Planning and coming to a final decision on where I wanted everything without going over budget was the longest/hardest part. Thanks for the props. I still need to create a grill cover for the sub and find some fabric to cover the spare. The next phase of this setup, includes a 7 inch widscreen custom install into the passenger dash with PS2 (hopefully before Christmas). If you have any specific how-to questions or constructive criticism, let me know.
BTW: It took about 20 hours of real work to install, and countless weeks planning and learning how to use my powertools. I didn't take pics of all the baords and plexi that I f-ed up in the process.

i'm in the middle of the same project.. oly criticism is that you should have put carpet over the spare and just have it as a flap so you can't see it... my setup is gonna be a lil different... spare tire under the car, trunk floor raised exactly 3 inches, carpet replaced with dark green velvet (yes, i know, ghetto fabulous, but it both matches my car (green) and i have a shiiitload of it at home so i might as well use it) and mine is with 2 12's each using around .83 cubic feet each... im not mounting the amps sunken yet because im not done buying amps... also, if you dont wanna put a grill on the speaker for looks, i came up with a little invention you can use if theres anytime that youve gotta put crap in your trunk...

i also drilled holes in the board above each speaker so the sound has some way to get out... it looks ugly when i use it (hardly), but it gets the job done...
