box stuffing with cotton or fiber etc.
actually, the fiberfill will make the sub run hotter. it makes the sub "think" there is more airspace in the box. the sub will hit harder, and more air friction. the polyfill will hold heat quite nicely (kinda like a blanket), and will thereby heat the box. i doubt this will have much of a negative effect, but nonetheless, it definitely does not cool the sub
and if you were refering to a capacitor cooling the sub...

and subs usually dont get louder when the box is stuffed
air friction is what allows airplanes to stay aloft. the friction caused by air is what causes space shuttles to get super hot when they come through the atmosphere.
and yes they do

How does it work? When your woofer is moving, the air inside the enclosure will heat up which makes the air "stiffer". When polyfill is in the enclosure, the air causes the fibers to move which in effect dissipates some of the heat within the enclosure. This can effectively increase the "seen" box size by up to 40%. Of course, this is an optiumum number. Using too much may have reverse effects
as for the box heating up, pressure times volume=amount of air times a constant times temperature. so when the sub compresses the air in the box, causing more pressure, you will get more heat as well. with or without polyfill. polyfill will help dissipate the heat that is there.
i don't want an arguement. my point was and still is none of us can definitively say what polyfill will or won't do. what has largely been agreed upon is it causes no real harm. it's very easy to undo if you don't like it...
