Amp setting question?
Amp setting question?
I have an Alpine Amp MRV-100m
and there's a Phase switch,
setting is 0 degrees or 180 degrees,
my question is what does it really do?
I tried both setting and I really didn't hear
any difference or just my ears aren't keen on
sound difference.
Need any info on this.
Thanks

If you switch from 0 to 180 it is making your speakers play out of phase, like if you hook up the positive and negative backwards. It makes your spaekers pull in instead of push out. The only time I ever would use it is in some bandpass applications it may sound better. Otherwise leave it a 0.
the phase **** is intended for time delays. If your subs are closer to you than your front speakers (like in a truck) the sound coming from your subs will reach your ears. You always want your soundstage in front of you thus you want to hear the front speakers first. If you have your subs in your trunk, then you don't need any phase shifting so I would leave it at 0.
