Rep Power: 0 Need new alternator?
hi, I was just wondering if you experience the same problem I have with my car and see what you guys think about it. Here is my install.. My bass amp is a Punch power 1100a2 pushing 2 12" JLW6v2 at two ohms each. My high amp is another punch power 800.4 pushing a pair of kenwood 6x9 and MB Quart QM separates. Each channel is giving out 100 watts. I do have a 2-1farad capacitor. Head Unit is alpine cda 7876.
Here is the problem, when i cranked the volume up, my whole stereo system shuts down for about one seconds. I looked at the voltage on the capacitor and it reads about 11.5 volt. The stereo system comes back on when the voltage is back at 14.4. Then I lowered the gain and bass on my amp and HU. I cranked the volume again. this time, the stereo didn't shut off, but i notice the light on my HU is blinking with the bass note. It looks like a strobe light or something. Its kinda cool but its makes me worry. Now, I feel that I would need to upgrade the alternator. Do any of you guys know how many amp is the stock 2002 civic alternator. I am planning to put a v6 accord alternator or a honda pilot or oddessey alternator. I read a few messages and I see that some of the peeps on here is pushing 2000 watts or more in their car. If that is you, did you upgrade your alternator. thanks.
