[ Dual Voice Coil Questions ]

I am thinking about running the following setup:

* 1 INFINITY KAPPA PERFECT12.1D (12" Dual Voice Coil)
* MTX THUNDER 6500D AMP

My first question is, how would you wire this setup for 2ohms. My secondd question is, if the speaker is 350w RMS, is that 350 per coil, or 175 per coil?

wire both -terminals of the sub to the - terminal of the amp and likewise for the +. Also that amp puts out 800Wrms easy..that sub will get toasted if you crank it....

The Perfects are rated for 350Wrms total. 175/coil. But they can handle 500Wrms with music loads..

Can you tune down the output of MTX amps?

Otherwise, I guess maybe the: "MTX Thunder4250D Amp" would be better suited?

a 250D puts out about 350-400Wrms... you can run a 2000 watt amp to that sub if you want to.. just don't crank the sub beyond it's capabilities

just get the bigger amp and turn the gain down on it. then you'll be ready for later on when you upgrade to more subs or better subs
