tis a device under the hood of your car which is driven by a belt abd creates electricity which charges your battery and powers your electrical accesories.

why do you need an bigger alternator? Your beat need the 14.4 VDC? Capacitors work wonders too.

I ordered a bigger alternator, I already have 2 caps, but future plans require a lot more power, so how did you do it? Is the alternator still a 4 groove belt?

Ohio Generator 160amp alternator from ampman audio.com ran me $670 installation took me about 6 hours.. would have taken 2 if I had a lift. Includes all brackets. You need to drill and tap 1 hole It still uses an OEM size belt. Install was fairly easy if your mechanically inclined. You also have to upgrade a bit of wiring.

Cheers

When are we going to see pictures of your system man? I can understand if you don't want to show for security reasons or whatever, but I thought I remember you saying you were going to have your friend take some pictures for you. Just curious.

All in due time...I have a digicam now..but I'm too busy to wash the car. and my big arc amp and IDMAX's are in someone else's car because I'm going on vacation and need trunk space...Y'all have my guarantee by September I'll have some pics posted..

edit: Also I don't have kickpanels in my car I sold them because I used them when I had my kickpods build for my old 3-way setup. My cars friggen dirty..interiors dirty and messy. and I work 13 hour shifts.

I know sounds like lame excuses....they are.

In some cases its possible to run dual stock alternators:

But I don't know if this is possible for our car or not.

Well, the theory is sound, just scoot it over, use a bracket to put another one in, and then slap a bigger belt on. But you're probably right, you'd have to check the room constraints.

Also, I think maybe that you'd have to have two batteries, I dunno.

don't forget though that that will slow down your car. my buddy did that in his truck and it made a huge difference. ne said it slowed him down alot by having to make the belt longer
