Need Help Installing Infinity Basslink (Subwoofer)

Finally got this in the mail today. Was so excited when I purchased and when it arrived, but I forgot about installation.

Must say I freaked out when they said I need to run a wire through my car from the battery and splice wires, etc.
For some reason I thought it was some easy plug and go thing, not like computers I guess.
I was going to have Circuit City or Bestbuy do it until they told me it's going to be another $80 + Parts

Manual For Installation

Couple of questions :

1. My stock deck doesn't have the RCA connection, does that mean I need to splice the wires?

2. Running wires from my battery... HOW?! Where does my wire go through to get to the trunk?

3. Do I have to actually pay up like another $100 for monster cables, Battery output splitter, fuse holder?

4. I told the worker at Circuit City I was going to splice since my deck doesn't take RCA, and he said that would sound bad, so he recommended an RCA converter. Does splicing (figure 9 in the manual) really sound bad?

Thanks for any tips!!

1) You can use the high level speaker outputs for it, it won't be the best for the quality, but it's a sub anyway.

2)From teh battery, you have to poke a hole through the firewall, most probably through the little rubber grommet in teh passenger's footwell. Then from there, you can put the power wire through the plastic paneling and intot he trunk.

3) You'll mosy likey need to but an amp installation kit, i'm not positive, but i think an 8 guage kit should work fine, it shoudl include power cables, RCAs, fuse holder and any other little accessories, You should be able to find online for about $20-$30.

4) You should definitely atleast try the splicing before you go out to buy a line level comvertor. If it sounds alright, save yourself the $30.

good luck!

What are all of the connections on the back of the sub, you should have 12V+, 12V-, rem, and rca input, right?

I spliced my sub off the rear speakers because I want to keep the stock head unit. It's not the "ideal" solution, but it's the easiest and for a sub you won't missing too much as if these were your mid-range speakers. I went through the same ordeal a few weeks ago, you can either get these little wire splicers from RadioShack (or wherever) that just bite into the rear speaker wires or you can do it the hard way by stripping a bit, solder, etc.

Or you could just do the line convertor way...
