I tried this once and was unsuccessfull...
This is what I recommend, take it or leave it =)
Wire all your neons to your 12v constant wire that is hooked up to your Cig Lighter.
Wire all them to a switch...
This is a guaranteed OK way to wire them, and i had no problems finding a ground or anything. Just my .02$

yeah i have 4 neons.. one under each seat.. all wired up to the battery via swich.. and the swich is in the change pocket.. thats pretty cool..
u were unsucessful becuase it doesnt provide enuff power?? i was thinking it would be unuff for maybe 2 neons.. but would draw to much current? and maybe blow fuses left and right

well i think what happened was i blew a fuse, then i effed up one of my neons. it was really hard working in that area because of the limited space. so i finally said EFF IT and just wired everything to my 12v wire to my cig lighter. but if you get it to work props to you bro

I wanted to make it so that anytime i open my trunk hatch my woofer amplifier turned off, and the neons turned on.
I bought a relay, an hooked the switch to my distribution block. grounded the neg of my neons, then attatched the pos to the relay. the two terminals that usually power the lightbulb go to the coil of the relay. in the normally on position the positive side of the D-block goes to teh remote of my amplifier.
when the trunk hatch opens, current flows through the light. rather than the light, it switches the relay on, removing power from my bass amplifier and giving that power to the neons.
and since im drawing current through my d-block and subsequently directly form my battery, i can run one, two, three, thirty, or even three hundred neons and ill be fine. and so will my electrical system
