Purchase Sub Box or DIY?

Are those pre-made sub boxes any good? How's the quality, I haven't seen any at local stores and if I do buy one it would be online and there's no way to tell how good they are.

I'm also up for building my own box, sounds like a fun project. How much would all the materials cost to build a simple enclosure for a 10".

Has anyone done that trick of stuffing the box with Polyfill so that the box could be smaller than normal? I think I heard that if you stuff 1.5 lb of Polyfill, you could reduce the enclosure volume by 20% or something and get the same effect.

some are crap..some are great.. exciter, Q Logic, RF, and a few others make good boxes. So long as it's braced, 3/4" MDF and of the proper airspace a pre-fab box is allright.. DIY is more fun though

Try DIY, if not then local audio shops always have someone that builds boxes.

Just use the materials mentioned above, shouldn't cost you more then $30 really...for 1 10".

What about adding that Polyfill material inside the box so that I can shrink the size?

Thanks, I've seen a few places selling Q Logic online.

What do you mean by braced? Do you still need to brace a single enclosure for a single 10" sub? I thought braces were for larger boxes or for multiple sub boxes?
