DIY deck relocation..what your getting into!
Today i started doing the deck relocation to where the lighter is. Just so you guys know there is definitely not enough space to mount a deck in there with out either- a)having it stick out like an ugly **** about an inch. b) custom glassing a new plastic piece c) there's a support bar back there that if you cut out will give you about 1 1/2 inches to play with. In my oppinion just not worth the time and effort. The support bar I just didn't want to cust as it is tack welded in there and ties two pieces together, plus it was obviously put there for a reason.

taek your pick. leave stock deck in, use teh tape player.... make it a big CD holder.... put in a TV screen.....put in an ashtray..... jsut gotta use your creativity, and the possibilities will open up for you...
have you ever worked with fiberglass, twilight?
that panel was an overnight project of mine, so it looks really bad, i used some camera tricks to make it look better htan it actually is in the shot, I plan on rebuilding it over a weekend and making all nice.
but seriously, if the answer to my above question was no, It would literally take you 2-3 days, working an hour or two each day to do this. It was that simple. I literally came up with the idea at around 8PM, did the glass layup at 10 PM, filled the weave at around 10 am teh next day, or whenever i got up, and by 5 pm the second day i had teh holes drilled, teh gauges installed, and the panel in.
one trip to radioshack for various plugs, and they were al connected. VERY VERY simple project that anyone here could VERY easily do. even with NO fiberglass experience at all.
youd just need some directions and tips for making yours look nicer that mine. its not like puting an lcd or anything! (unless you had an LCD built like a gauge, then yeah, it would be just as easy.)
ive written directions on how to put those gauges in like that a couple times tho. you could scan through pages 2-4 or search ice, its in there somewhere....

Rabbit....I like the HU in the console..very clean..but one question? How come its facing the passenger and not the driver? Or is that your pick up line..lol
"Hey...can you come in here and run my stereo for me?" Just wondering...thats all... WC
"Hey...can you come in here and run my stereo for me?" Just wondering...thats all... WC a very good question! It was quite intentional to put teh deck facing that way, actually....
the whole reason the deck doesnt work in the stock location is due to angle. we are looking UP into it! the LCD doesnt display that very well, and we are stuck having no view into the radio >.<
By putting it there facing ME, i am still "underneath" the deck lookign up onto it. try it out! my passengers cant see ANYTHING on the deck untill they lean just past the emergency brake! so if the girl in teh passenger seat wants to fiddle with the radio, shes gotta lean over just a bit....maybe a bit more...
it is reverse so I can see it clearly in the day.
