What is the difference between a 16-volt (20 volt surge) and 24 volt power capacitor such as a lightning cap or what not. I know what a volt is, but how is this going to effect my system. If anyone knows the specifics of what these voltage ratings indicate I would really appreciate an explanation.

All it is letting you know is how much voltage capacity it can handle in it, like a 16 volt cap can hold 16 volts over the + and - terminals. If you want to really check what your rating is just pull out the ol' trusty voltmeter and lay it across the terminals and check the voltage.

I was looking at two different brands, one was 16 volt and the other was 24 volts. Which one based on those characteristics would be a better cap?
