XTC Foam Baffles

I've seen a few installs that use these. They keep out water and dust and probably act as a mini-box for the bass. Click here to understand what the hell I'm talking about. Anyway, I bought a pair of these. Going to install them as soon as I get them. We'll see if they help the bass, but they'll block water and dust for sure. Can't reccomend them yet, but if they fit then I will for sure. What do you guys think?

I have no experience with them at all, and i'm mostly talkign out of my ***, but, from what i've heard, we do not have much clearance between the speaker magnets and the door window. I don't knwo if that would matter, but unless you got the baffles to stick as close to the magnet as possible, it might interfere witht eh window. just a thought

I have Scosche spacers up front too. I think I still have an inch and a half of space from the back of my magnet to the bar. We'll see if they fit. They didn't cost me much, so no biggie if they don't. At least we'll know.

yes i i have them in my doors and they r just foam so you can just mush them in there. i think they make the mid bass a lil tighter giving them a small enclosure type instead of just the free air door. and yes the keep your speaker safe from any water that may find its way down there. i give them a thunbs up

U can use floral foam as well..all that it does is disperses and absobrs rear firing upper midrange sound to prevent any standing waves...Deflex pads made by Cscade ausio do a much better job of this.

I got those XTC baffles too, but I felt that the area was too tight to fit them in also (like Ed said). I have my Polk EX602A lifted on a foam ring and Scosche universal bracket.

if you have rearfill, you can put those in there and coat it with glass so it becomes dead stiff, will help prevent bass hits from affecting the rear speakers.

Hmm... I didn't think of buying some for the rear speakers. Darn! Oh well, if the front ones work out I might just buy the back ones as well...

They were a really tight fit. They kinda got squished up against that one bar. They fit allright though and they work! Mid range bass improved and bass improved as well. Maybe even mids. Tough to tell. The sound is better and the whole door doesn't vibrate as much as before. I cut a slit in the foam using an exacto knife to get the wires through. Phil's (TwilightX's) idea and it worked great. The thin slit seals right up, so water can't get in. For only $8 or so this was worth it. I wish they were a tab bit smaller. Maybe the 5.25" ones would fit better with my Scosche speaker spacers? I might try those one day as well as the ones for 6x9's. The most importand thing IMO is that they protect the speakers from water.
