Where to fuse....
I'm getting ready to do a big install. My system will be supported by a 1 Farad Cap. I'm wondering where do I fuse this set up?? Do I fuse between battery and cap? The cap and the amp?? or . .. both?? My knowledge of how this stuff works tells me that the cap is like a mini battery. . Therefore I think the only place I need a fuse is between the cap and the amp. . But tell me if anyone thinks otherwise, or knows otherwise. . So I don't mess anything up. . Thanks for your help...

ditto what mohawk said. if you get an Amp Wiring Kit they usually come with a fuse holder attached on the power cable at most 12 inches from the battery. i got one from Scosche that had the fuse like 8 inches away from the battery
btw, the reason for the fuse being as close to the battery as possible is so that if something goes awry, the very first thing that happens is that the fuse blows, so nothing else has a chance to get messed up before the fuse goes. whereas if your only fuse on your power cable for your amp(s) was between your cap and your amp, you could have many other systems blown by the time your fuse gets fried.

I didn't think it was necessary to mount the fuse holder to anything because it was already light enough. I just made sure to tape off all the joints with electrical tape to prevent any leaks.
