started relocating head unit, now i'm stuck help!

i started relocating my alpine down under the 12v power outlet today. I cut it away a lil and got my crate in there nice and tight and screwed the crate in through the top. i got plummer straps for the back and anywhere else i want. since i am trying to do it flush the crate sticks out on an angle cause the pocket i cut into is angled down there. that was no problem though because wehre you could see the crate, i vinyled to match my interior and it looks sweet. now to where i got stuck. there is a bracket (brace) whatever behind the pocket that is stopping me from getting my head unit in there flush. so i figure if i cut it in half longways (left to right) i can still have a brace and fit my head unit snug. it will be extremely close and i think it will fit if i measured right. my question is if anyone has done this yet and what they used to cut the metal since there are wires back there and stuff i don't want to cut through!!! if anyone has more info let me know and since this has been a hot topic on here lately i'll try to get a diy done this even works haha. thanks guys.

p.s. whiterabbit if you read this thanks for the diy on the gauge cluster it helped a lot i will be exploring into that if i pull of the relocation.

np about the gauge cluster, it was a learning experience for me, and i hope that yours is an improvement on my slop job!

as far as your deck and that panel.....

there is no cutting tool that can beat out a dremel for precision. get yoruself a pack of reinforced cutting wheels, and you can cut through anything!

I would tie back the loose wires, then get up in tehre with a dremel, can make your cuts as precision as you want, and can even grind off the boogers to make it smooth (dun wanna scrath up teh frame of your deck )

but yeah, ive thought about that alot, how ppl say they put it in, there, but i always saw NO depth back there.

can you go into detail about your vinyl work? maybe throw a picture or two up? im curious how you matched everything up to your interior.....

basically there is NO depth back there (like 3 inches) but i am gonna try that 2marrow afternoon after i pick up some wheels for my dremel... i may even try my rotozip. (i have every tool in the world at my disposal cause o' my dad) it's gonna be so close if i can get it in there flush, esecially since i have to run my rcas back there and stuff it may not work at all but o well it's worth a shot and i'll only be out 1 interior piece that's broken anyway. by the way i have a sedan so i wonder if it was easier in the coupe for 4kilos and the others who've done it. by the way rabbit if you see this.. i am gonna upgrade my components next.. i have a jl 150/2 to run em and i have like 300 or so to play with... i was thinking of the rainbow contours since they share the same tweeter as the pro series and i can get them shipped w/warrenty for 370 or somethin from ampman... that is kinda steep though if you think sometin can beat it for less let me know. and i will do my best to get you all the pics i can when i'm done and of my gauge cluster. should be tight.
