out of your choices I would get one 10w7. I demoed them at a local car audio shop and they sound nice, even at high spl levels. after listening to it, I decided I'm gonna get one 12w7. gonna power it with the jl 1000/1 amp. It's a lot of money, but its worth it. sure beats the hell out of my 2 mtx subs.

i know i heard one at a local tweeter and they sound goo, but see i already have one 10w3, so i need to justify the expense of the w7 and amp, either way im gonna get the 500/1 amp, but i need to know that im not jsut wasting my money so i can get the best JL has, ya know?

might be pretty hard to justify the cost if you already have a w3....

but then again, the increase in SQ and SPL should be MILES above a pair of 10w3's....

but worth the cost of teh w7 AND an amp which im told isnt even out yet? i dunno.....

No, the 500/1 amp that the guy from tweeter (i always talk to the same guy) recommends is out, they have one in the showroom. also, at what point do i need to get a .5 or 1.0 farad capacitor, over 1000 watts? Fairly new to the ICE scene, so i dont know too much about the REALLY technical stuff.

there is no limit to when you need a cap. its just help keep the voltage a steady stream. helps keep diming down.

It gets too hard to justify what you spend on this stuff. Just get what you want. If it were me I'd go for the W7 in a heartbeat. The 1000/1 is sweet, great choice for a sub amp especially when paired with a W7. Try explaining to your wife why you need two 13.5W7's and two 1000/1's! It's not easy!

hmm, so the 500/1 won't be enough for the W7? i think if i needed the 1000/1 and it wasnt out yet the guy would have told me, he didnt say i would need two 500/1's either. as far as a capacitor, i have no probs with dimming,(of course right now im only pullin 250W), when do u typiclly start to see dimming, 750, 1000, 1250,?

Who said the 500/1 wouldn't be enough for the 10W7? Who said you needed two 500/1's?

500/1 + 10w7 =

caps are only a bandaid to the system. they prevent dimming by supplying current to teh amps when the batery and alternator cant keep up. your amp continues to draw current even after the cap is discharged, and as the cap recharges you are just further straining your electrical system. On a large bass hit, it takes less time to discharge the cap than a meter can measure. this is why you dont see a majority of cars with caps in SPL cometition. they needlessly add strain on teh E-system, reducing SPL.

If you have dimming, and it really bugs you, it is a sign that your E-system is inadequate to keep power going to your amps. It can only be solved with an alternator upgrade.

Ok, man, thanks for clearin that up for me, im guessin by what u just said, that people get them more to show off now, rather than for their usefullness. So, anyway, if u were in my situation, what would you do?
