ill agree 1400 is enough for him, but as far as blowing subs, i can blow a w7 with 150 watts, dont mean very much....

three things cause sub failure:

exceeding mechanical limits

exeeding thermal limits

degredation of parts (fatigue failure)

2 of these three are caused by poor installs. i only said ive heard they can take it cause a shop owner in florida told me this information. he knows his s h i t and i trust his expertise (being an alpine dealer and all)

if they could blow their subs, while others *have* given them a kilowatt, I call into question gain settings, deck settings, box design... sounds to me like a poor design.

Locally it is an Alpine dealer who has about 90+ Trophies from many years of competing around the shop.. The subs apparently are massed produced to not so exacting tolerances. Generally failure occurs with the surrounds seperating from the cones in sealed applications. Ported they don't seem to have many problems.

Ported the shop says no prblems as of yet. Sealed though..they go pop.

1.1 cubes tuned to 29hz they bump and sound awesome..with a long 3: aeroport.

so it wasnt too much power, it was poor choice of box type then.
