Put a subwoofer under my seat?

Hey,

I would like to put a subwoofer under my seat. Anybody have any suggestions? I looked at some pre-made boxes, but none of them will fit under the seat. I know I will only be able to put a 8 inch under there, but that is all I want. I suppose I could make the box myself, and make it for an 8 inch sub, but would that work in a practicality?

As a small side question: Are best brands for speakers the same for subwoofers?

Thanks

With the space under the seat you can only really fit a 5 1/4" SUb ...Unless you give up some floor space for your rear passenger..there just isn't room enough

I was looking at some boxes somewhere and they where like 14 X 12, which would fit snugly, but the depth was 6 at one end and 4 at the other. 4 would fit, but 6 would never fit.

If I have to go with 5 1/4" Subs thats fine (I don't really want that much base anyway) I just thought that 8 was as small as it got befor you got into crapy stuff.

Who makes a good really small sub? (is that an oxymoron - small sub? )

Blaupunkt makes a a sub with a flat motor structure. Haven't heard any info on how they sound..but they would fit if you took your seat out and did a little fiberglass work for an enclosure.

Cheers

easiest way to fit a sub under your seat is to just wedge it in there, no box neccesary.

this will add alot of "bump" to your sound. you will lose:

#1 all teh cushion in your seat
#2 you get no added bass, as its muffled by the seat
#3 money, it costs money for a 40x2 watt amp to power your junk 8's =/

theres no real good reason to do it (but if you want to, 8's WILL fit under there =/ just maybe not in a box)

thanks,

it sounds like what I am looking for, but I checked about 3 or 4 sites and couldn't find one.
Am I looking for a sub or the enclosure or both? Is it the sub and I have to build my own box?
Anyone with a link? I will keep looking................

you guys are great.

Well the idea came from the car I really wanted; Subaru Impreza WRX.( didn't have the money) I noticed that as a part of the premium sound package, you got a sub under the seat. I also like this idea in that my nuts may fall off. I have never tried it or heard anything about it, so I thought it might give an interesting effect. Third, I don't want to take up any space in my trunk with subs. So there you have it.

BTW: I still have not found what Blaupunkt products you guys where talking about.

I got this e-mail this morning:

The ODwp1200s saucer sub is not out on the market yet. We are expecting it sometime in June or July. I do not have any specs or prices on those subs. Keep an eye on our website for updated information at www.BlaupunktUSA.com.

Best Regards,
Alexi

Damn. I hate waiting.
