2003 civic brake light/socket

I bought this car to get me around to school, work, & home.. the ONLY downfall was that is was missing the rear brake light sockets....no problem I found them online and ordered them.
Car was running fine UNTIL I installed the brake light and sockets ....AND THEM NOTHING, car does not start.
There is a clicking noise on the fuse box, the one out on the hood next to the battery. When I turn the ignition key to start car ...the noise dims but nothing else. Noise would not stop so I took one the clamps off from the battery.
ANYONE HAS HAD A RUN-IN WITH THIS ISSUE & HOW YOU SOLVED IT?
Your advice would really help me solve this problem.

Re: 2003 civic brake light/socket

i would start by undoing what you did and get the car running again. It sounds like your grounding out the socket but I can't imagine that stopping the car from starting unless you blew a fuse. But even then I would think the car would still start.

If the car was missing the brake light sockets then I would imagine the original owner probably messed with the wiring. I'd check around the truck for anything obvious and also check under the dash for some spliced wires.
