Audio Problems

Hey guys,

Kinda stumped on this. I recently bought a Kenwood DDX-371 double din HU and installed it today. everything works except when I go to play music off my ipod via bluetooth, sound only comes from the two fronts. Rear and sub channels don't work. I've checked the manual and settings and I couldn't find anything. I know everything is hooked up correctly because when I play the radio, all channels work and it sounded like how it did with my previous deck.

TL;DR - Audio using bluetooth only comes out of two fronts. Rear and sub no sound. Checked all settings and manual with no avail.

And if that's not bad enough, when I connect my ipod via usb, there's no sound at all. I have a 5th gen ipod w/ lightning connector (9-pin) so I use the USB port from deck which i routed to glove box then connect my ipod cable from there to ipod. If any of you can solve this problem, I am forever grateful. I was waiting for this bad boy to come in and was kinda disappointed that the audio didn't work right out of the box.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Audio Problems

what audio file format are you using? mp3? aac? I found this on Kenwood's website: http://www.kenwood.com/usa/car/navig...odel=DDX371#af

Looks like AAC files may only be encoded in 2 channels so maybe that's it?

And you may need the "Kenwood" ipod cable for direct connection: http://www.kenwood.com/usa/car/navig...el=DDX371#ipod

Some manufacturers make it so you have to use their cable for some dumb reason.

Re: Audio Problems

was just reading through the reviews on Crutchfield to see if anybody was complaining about needing the special cable and found this if it means anything to you:

"If you also use the included USB function for an iPhone, you'll have to go into the audio settings and switch it from iPod to the AV function in order to get sound to your speakers."

Re: Audio Problems

hey drhawkinz,

thanks for the response. I figured out the bluetooth problem. I had to change a setting in the bluetooth menu from 2 channels to all channels. still stuck on the ipod problem. i read the manual and it says i'm able to use the cable that comes with the ipod and just plug it in to the usb port BUT i think i'll try and purchase the kenwood adapter to see if that'll resolve my problem. but it's not like a need it right away since i'm watching music videos on it anyway. But again, thanks for the response! sorry for responding back so late.

Aloha!

edit: watching videos via usb drive (not ipod)
