Recommend rear speakers very modest system
Recommend rear speakers very modest system
I have a Sony BT3100P deck in the front 52w peak 17w RMS. No desire for amps or subs. I've replaced the front speakers with some inexpensive Kenwood speakers and now want to replace the rears.
Can someone provide some advice choosing between these 4 sets?

The kickers will play the loudest with the Rockford and MTX coming in second.
If it were me, I would be putting in these in your price range

Re: Recommend rear speakers very modest system
My guess is it is because yours are bottom mounted??
If that is the reason, if the covers come off, I would see if they will top mount.
It could also be that they are about an eighth inch deeper and may hit trunk springs.
They will fit. It just depends on what you are willing to do for mods.
May require a thin spacer. Maybe a slight readjustment of the springs. I don't know.
Not sure of your technical skills but it is something I could could make fit without too much issue. It would be worth it to me as they are much better speakers than the other 4.
Maybe someone more familiar with the mounting style of that model car will chime in.

Re: Recommend rear speakers very modest system
I would be willing to bet that few people would ever be able to tell if there were different brands of speakers in the front and rear of a car, as long as they were sonicly similar.
I have had different brands of speakers in the front of some of my vehicles, SoundStream mid bass drivers, Jl Audio mids and MB Quartz tweeters. Sounded amazing.
Heck, the tweeters in my girlfriends Polk 5x7 speakers went out and I replaced them with the MB Quartz Tweeters I had and I think they sound better.
It's more important to match the sensitivity rating of the speakers to ensure similar volume. If your front speakers have a rating of 93dB 1 watt at 1 meter and your rears are 86db 1 watt at 1 meter, you are going to have to set your fader 75% to the rear just to hear the back speakers.
If I used rear speakers and wanted to be able to really hear them, I would make sure they were rated a little higher than the fronts since the sound has to travel further.
Re: Recommend rear speakers very modest system
real MB quarts or the rebranded stuff i had real MB quart reference up front and diamond audio reference in the rear and i could definitely tell the MBs sounded better.
Re: Recommend rear speakers very modest system
The real stuff of course. I paid $180 for the pair around 15 years ago.
That's like $90 a square inch for a speaker. What the hell was I thinking.
I have considered on more than one occasion swapping out my Boston tweeters for the MB Quartz but I think she would kill me for tearing up her speakers again
Sorry to the OP. Back to our regularly scheduled question.

Re: Recommend rear speakers very modest system
yeah the original MB titanium dome tweeters sounded amazing luckily the original MB quart is still in business under the name German Maestro so you could still purchase those titanium tweeters.
