2002 Civic LX- OEM Keyless Entry Install

hello guys, new to the forum and hoping someone can provide me with a simple answer to my question...

i just bought a 2002 lx... car doesnt come with keyless entry from the factory but i want to install the oem system. i took apart the center console to make sure a previous owner didnt install the H & A kit, and sure enough nothing is there.

my question is, since H & A and Honda no longer sell the accessory kit to install keyless on a LX can i rob the brain box and supporting harness off of a wrecked EX or something like that?? and/or, will the EX donor civic have keyless entry installed like the Honda accessory kit for a LX or will it be different? (more built in/impossible to pull out)

i have found the modules listed at junkyards and such, however the real issue i am having is the actually wiring of the module.

Thanks in advance for the responses, i've tried searching for like an hour and cannot find a straight forward answer to this.

You'd probably have to locate a correct year LX with the dealer installed accessory kit, and rob the entire kit--harness and all.

If you are able to find an OEM module then the wiring should be plug and play since there is a security plug down by the driver side kick panel. There is an orange plug with the wires needed to trigger everything (atleast on my 01 Lx there was).

If you do go with an aftermarket kit the install is not to difficult. Here is a good source for wire colors:

www.the12volt.com

I would still use a meter to verify all the wires before hooking into them.
