Nj,

I have the MP-8017, practically the same unit without color screen, but it has MP3 capability. I am pretty happy with mine, no problems. You might want to look into the newer generation kenwood hu's. Hope this helps.

there is nothing relaible about kenwood's preouts. very overrated if they remain solid. youll never see the problem if you only use speaker outs, notr if you cna turn teh gains up high enuff to compensate for the crappy gains, assuming no clipping. your money can be spent better elsewhere.

but kenwood makes great cdroms, almost as nice as pioneer, youll never have a problem with teh cd playing capability of a kenwood (unlike a genuwine sorny... )

So are the preouts what I would use to connect an amp or just the regular car speakers?

Personally I would avoid Kenwood..I've had problems with 3 of their HU's in the past.. Kenwood Excelon HU's seem to be alot more reliable. As a Gneral rule there's 3 staples for HU's..Alpine, Pioneer, Clarion ...can't go wrong with any of those...

i have had a clarion befofe in this car. A local shop here in omaha, nebraska called Stereo West installed it. I picked my car up and noticed that my dash was all messed up. I called got the manager they said they would fix it and things just went down hill from there. Too make a long story short. I returned the unit and had them put my car back together the way it was before they disfigured it. I did like the clarion alot but I could not see the display. I have read around this site that this is some what normal i guess. So I will look at the 3 options and go with one of them. Thanks everyone

Oh anybody know where I can go to get a good price on these brands?
