Question Drop in speakers?

Are there any speakers on the market that drop right into the factory cutouts for the front doors? Or an adapter maybe? It seems like the consensus is that holes have to be drilled and I'd like to avoid that if possible. I know some people have also made their own brackets and whatnot but I don't have the tools or work space for that. :\

Re: Drop in speakers?

There are adapters you can buy. eBay has them, I'm not sure where else. There's also a guide on here somewhere that shows you how to modify the old speaker to act as an adapter as well.

I just put in Boston Pro 50SE's. I used the metal brackets that came with it and cut out 3/4" MDF. Worked great!

Re: Drop in speakers?

not really, and if there is you would have to get shallow mount speakers to clear the window and they will sound terrible.

I just put in infinity reference series 6.5" in, and did the same thing...just cut out a ring of mdf and used washers to bolt it to the factory holes.

Re: Drop in speakers?

Have you checked with Crutchfield? They usually have recommendations for what will fit without modification. They offer thin mount speakers and wiring adapters are included.
