Need ideas on completely reconstructing a 01 Civics' Ex Sedans' Audio System

Well, I hope you all know what you're doing, cause I sure as hell don't.

Being that I'm 16, I just got my first car, some of which to be a '01 Honda Civic EX Sedan, that is Gold/Tan. EVERYTHING IS STOCK. (Soon to change)

I heard about these wonderful forums by simply being interested in the Civic, googled just about everything, and just about every search led me here, to a bunch of useful, great people. So...I need to ask my own question now.

I basically need to know OPINIONS and ADVICE on what to get.
I know you're going to need the type of music I listen to, so I'll go ahead and tell you that you will hear me around the Greater Cincinnati area listening to nothing but Rap, and OCCASIONALLY Dubstep, not a massive fan but if I hear the gasm to the left and right ear, I'll listen to it.

^^ With it being said, I am going to COMPLETELY reconstruct the whole audio system and need to KNOW WHAT TO BUY.

After doing self research, I've came up with one thing- Using the Stock Headunit in the Civic is a TERRIBLE idea, and it will make everything sound awful.

So...opinions on them? I've watched videos and know how to install these my self.

I need to know what things I will need to buy to install a 12" Sub.
My buddy has subs, and they just literally go hard as hell, and I have to have them.

Give me a complete list of everything I'll need, give me a good brand for headunits, etc.

I'm going to upgrade the speakers as well, any suggestions on that?

Sorry to jump all around in my topic, it's 4:15 AM and I'm half asleep.

All advice is GREATLY appreciated!!

REMEMBER, I DON'T HAVE MASS $$$$$$ TO SPEND SO TRY TO LEAD ME TO SAVING A BUNCH OF MONEY!

Also:
Is it possible that any of you know how to install your own subs/amp, etc because I honestly don't want to pay 150$ for it to get installed when someone can construct me how to do it.

Pull a larger power cable than you expect to need. When you can afford it you'll probably want to get another amplifier to drive your door speakers if you want any midbass and good tunes. I would also consider pulling an extra set of signal cables when you run the sub signal cable. Chances are if you really like your music, you will want to amplify those door speakers in the not too distant future.

There are way too many good options for people here to tell you each piece to go buy. You'll need to go talk with your buddy, an older sibling, family member, someone from the neighborhood etc. Or just, go on youtube if you have to. The internet has all kinds of do-it-yourself educational videos. If you want us to type it all out instead of you searching for the info, you are just being lazy brother.

It's not me being lazy, it's me bein afraid of buying something not compatible with the car I have honestly. I know some decent subs, If I have a 12" Kenwood what type of amp should I get. That's my main question.

also;
I didn't want anyone to do the research FOR ME...I was hoping someone here would have a kick *** system and would be able to direct me the setup they have, etc.

Match the power handling of speaker to the power output of the amplifier. Always go by RMS power ratings on speaker and amplifier. If your kenwood sub specs say to run it between 200-400wrms, always go on the high end (look for 400wrms +/- amplifier output). It's always better to have as much power available as the speakers can handle IMO.

Pay attention to single voice coil or DVC in your sub(s). You should really go read on amplifier / speaker wiring configurations so you'll get to know how the speakers need to be wired for the proper / best impedance. I think crutchfield and sonic electronix among many others have diagrams explaining series and parallel wiring as well as DVC wiring configs.

Without amplified interior speakers, 1 average 12 will be capable of producing more bass than the HU powered speakers can keep up with.

You might want to consider buying the components in this order as money comes in...
(1)headunit
(2)door speakers, dynamat or similar, door speakers amplifier & amp wiring including the power and signal for your future sub amp
(3)sub and sub amp

Re: Need ideas on completely reconstructing a 01 Civics' Ex Sedans' Audio System

Like A03 said, you will need another amp for the door speakers. I have 1, 8 inch sub and my Alpine head unit can't keep up with the bass. I think my single 8 inch Infinity, paired with an Infinity Reference amp kicks ***, but I listen to rock and country so you will probably want more bass for rap/hip hop. It's a 250 rms sub being driven with a 250 rms amp in a custom made sealed inclosure.

Here is some good info that you should read to help you with installation and amp/sub lingo.

@Topic

Do the research, spend some time and thought into it.
Read my thread in my sig

Everyone has different tastes in how they like their music, just like cars.
Some may think rice, while others think it's nice.
