best $300 10" sub

I've been looking at getting a 10" sub for a custom fiberglass I'm going to build. Looking for loud bass, but mostly SQ. One that I like is the Infinity Perfect 10.1. Don't want anything that takes much more than .75 ft^3. Also, the rockford punch HX2's look killer. Audiobahn Alum10Q's, but those are getting up to my maximum price range. I'll be powering it with a rockford 500a2 that pushes 644x1 @ 4ohm bridged, so if it can't handle that much power i'll need a dual 4-ohm sub (such as the Perfect). What do you guys think is the best 10 around $300???

Ger yourself an Image Dynamics sub, either an IDQ, IDQ V.2 or an IDmax. You can get either a 10" or a 12", and in single or dual 2 or 4 ohm. I'd recommend an 10" IDQ V.2 D4. Should run you a lot less than 300 for it too.

You think a single 10" or 12" elipse (at 3.1ohms) bridged on my 500a2 (644x1 @ 4ohm) would be okay?? Dunno, for 1, if the amp could handle that load, and 2, if the sub could handle that power.

Bryn.. the amp can handle that load ..the sub can most definately handle that power.. eclipse ratings are for what the subwoofer can handle in it's reccomended airspace with a 55hz test tone for 24 hours straight..the sub can handle 800Wrms all day no problem....

and 3.1 is the subs DC resistance..however because the cone is a little heavy it has the same reactive impedance laods as your typical 4phm subwoofer.

Cheers

OOOPS/fogot too..the Auiomobile MASS 10" sub is under $300 and can handle that kinda power too. And supposedly is an amazing SQ sub.. I've owened and still use for the moment Audiomobile EVO-R subs and these sounds pretty dang good. but there are Audiomobiles SPL subs..the MASS's are their best SQ perfermers so I wouldn't doubt they'd sound as good as the eclipse's

damn man, that was quick. thanks, i can't seem to find the eclipse web site that would have all the technical data regarding those subs. the audiomobile looks nice too! They both look like killer subs.

I have the T/S parameters for all eclipse subs at my house.. I emailed Eclipse' tech support and they emailed em to me.. Might wanna try that..

The audiomobiles are awesome as well.. I've never heard a MASS for myself. but I have 2 EVO-R's and they sound about the same as the eclipse's with a little more SPL output. The eclipse's though just have a certain special somethign to em tho

I found a lot of the data for the eclipses here. I don't understand most fo the numbers, but the sub displacement and enclosure volumes are nice. Why do I want .78 ft^3 if competition size is .45 ft^3. I'm not going to compete, but I would assume that owuld be the best sound quailty. No?

single sub will be moooooore than fine! I've got a single 12" dvc... hits more than hard enough on its own, hehe.
Can't image how loud it'd get with 2 or 3 of these!

I don't know if this is typical or not... but damn, if I open the trunk, it's not loud at all (I have mine where the cone
faces the trunk opening, back faces the seats)... but you hop in the car... monster sound coming out!! I think this
is why my trunk doesn't rattle at all

Edy,

That's not totally typical..sometimes you hear more bass that way from some setups.. it's an odd thing. It gets ALOT louder in your car because of your cars transfer function.. Open air iwth 750Wrms that subs only hitting like 119 DB's.. in car it should be hitting mid 130's.. almost 15 DB gain in car...cars are fun
