can kappa PERFECTS fit?
can kappa PERFECTS fit?
can kappa PERFECTs fit into doors of 03 civic lx coupe? i have read many times in this forum of the kappas fitting, just wanna make sure the perfects do. I plan to use a 1"spacer and I'm prepared to do a little metal cutting. i also plan on filing down the plastic on the inside of the door panel so the excursion woundn't hit.
the mounting depth on the perfects is 2 3/4"?
the space incl 1" spacer to hit window 2 7/8"?
1)so would 1/8" be big enough to not damage my window or speaker when rolled ALL the way down?
2)will the speaker hit the door panel(due to excursion)?
thanks
rest of system:
alpine pdx f4
alpine cda-117(will get imprint after kappa perfects)
pioneer premeir 4way 6x9s
fosgate wiring kit

Re: can kappa PERFECTS fit?
I'm new here, and I installed my door speakers last night. I thought i'd share my experience. I have an 03 Ex coupe, and saw all of the spacer stuff posted everywhere, so I made some with 1/2" mdf. I rolled the windows down, removed the door panels, and went to work. First I noticed that the 6.5" speakers wouldn't fit in the factory location, so I pulled out a coffee can, a sharpie, and my metal cutters. I used the coffee can as a template and positioned it approx. 1/8" below the top of the factory speaker cut out. I marked the circumference onto the sheet metal and used the shears to cut out the hole. It was an easy cut and the Fosgate component woofer fit perfectly. I have an 1/8" gap below the bottom of the glass and the magnet, and about 1/4" between the back of the magnet and the door beam. I mounted the woofer directly to the door sans spacer. I then removed the factory tweets and broke the speaker out of the grill/cup. fitted the fosgate tweeter and used duct tape (lol) to secure the tweeter to the grill. Finally I screwed the tweeter back into the sail panel and buttoned it up. Individual results vary, but my components are 3" deep, and using the measurements listed above, they fit easily without a spacer. I hope this helps. Be patient and be careful!!
Re: can kappa PERFECTS fit?
Just installed the perfects. i had to cut a little plasic off the inside of the panel. the hole in the metal also had to be made bigger. i actually used the factory door speaker plate(had to rip apart and cut the speaker& support out. i drilled a tweeter location and viola! roll the window all the way & have it look factory besides the tweet.
