Component speaker/Amp HELP!?!?!?!

Alright, so i'm helping a friend install 4 pairs of component speakers with separate crossovers, a 4 channel amp to power them, as well as a double din nav unit. Everything went in just fine, but when i went to turn it on, only the tweeters are playing sound (and it sounds like a full range rather than just the highs). So i took one of the stock speakers i just removed, attached some speaker wire to it, and it plays just fine coming out of the crossover, and even when i put it on the terminals of the new speaker i just hooked up. This led me to believe the new woofers were pooched. But then i took woofer lead out of the crossover and hooked it right to the speaker leads on the nav unit, and it played just fine. Then i also tried taking the woofer and putting it right to the amp (so bypassing the crossover) and it didnt play anything. The amp is set to flat (even tried putting it to hpf and lpf) and ive adjusted the gain and frequencies, i've also tried changed the settings on the nav unit too with no avail... please heeeeelp!

Re: Component speaker/Amp HELP!?!?!?!

If you are getting full range out of the tweeter from the crossover, either you wired the crossovers incorrectly or they are bad.
Question, are you installing 4 pairs or 4 sets of component speakers? I will assume you mean set as you are only using 1 amp.
If you hook the woofer to the tweeter connections you should barely hear anything coming from it.
Also make sure the settings from the head unit are correct and that you don't have HPF of LPF set. Also make sure you used the correct RCA outs on the head unit.

Ya only 1, 4 channel amp going to 4 crossovers. And the crossovers are clearly marked for input, woofer, and tweeter and i double checked all of those.... I'll try hookin up the woofer to the tweeter input and see if that does anything... and i also turned the amplifier gain off, on the head unit.

Your wiring is mixed up somewhere. What comes out of the woofers if they're installed in the car (not straight to the crossover like you already tried)?

If i run the woofer straight to the head unit, it plays as it should. If i run the woofer straight to the amp (bypass the crossover) it doesnt play anything.

Re: Component speaker/Amp HELP!?!?!?!

Something is screwed up in your wiring. Hook it all up as it should be, and what comes out of the woofer.
