Which Amp?
Which Amp?
I have a 2002 Coupe EX that had stock speakers until I replaced them with a pair of JBL GTO508C for the 5-1/4" 2-Way Component door speakers and a pair of JBL GTO938 6" x 9" 3-Way Coaxial Loudspeakers in the rear. I still have the stock head unit and don't plan on upgrading it just want to add a amp so I can get the full wattage and bass out of my speakers. The GTO508C's are each 55W RMS and 100W peak and the GTO938 are 100W RMS and 300W peak. I want to get the best amp I can get without having to worry about blowing my speakers. Since all my speakers are from JBL I want to keep the amp from JBL but don't know enough to decide on which one. The two i'm thinking about are below. any advice or comments are appreciated.
JBL GTO1004 600-Watt, 4-channel

JBL GTO 504 280-Watt, 4-channel
http://www.jbl.com/EN-US/Products/Pa...spx?PID=GTO504
One of the things i'm worried about is since my door component speakers are rated less RMS than my 6x9s and I have a line running from the amp thats above 55W RMS wouldn't that blow it?

Re: Which Amp?
the 280 watt should work perfectly fine... i have a similar set up in my car and all i have is 300 watt 4channel ds18 amp ... and i have all 4 door speakers from pioneer .. which i 100 rms each... 2 bullet twitters.. and a horn 700 watt peak on that one amp and i blow out alot of people with it
Re: Which Amp?
i've actually got the model up from the 1004, the 1401.1 by JBL(aka big friggin amp) my friend has the 1004 and it does great for his set up. which is by far alot more than what you're putting in yours. but even with the 1004 theres a great feature that actually acts like a microphone for your mids and highs(component speakers, door speakers, whatever you wanna call them) so you get great volume out of those(not sure if the 280 does that or not). while still being able to feel the bass if you want to run some subs. I've always ran JBL amps and have never once had a problem with quality. Either one you pick though im sure you wont be dissapointed with
