The clusters are so similar, I expected Honda to streamline the manufacturing process as much as possible.

streamlining makes sense to us, but for them it's about being able to charge more money for another part.

i was more looking for a reverseglow gauge or something. not the whole cluster itself. all i really want to do is have blue instead of red.

Re: Led dash light conversion

I've been inspired by sl33pyriceboi's dash, I finally started my led mods tonight even though I've had everything to do it since the summer.

Will post pics later, so far I've only completed the 3 lower buttons, but I didn't shave the bulbs enough so they're all stuck on F*CK!!

be careful with uv leds if you value your eyesight lol. many of the good uv leds actually put out wavelengths in the real uv range. if you want the uv look, go with purple leds.

Haha some explanation is required I see..

I could decide what colour I liked, so I bought the cheapest LEDs I could find in a few different colours to experiment. My friends been fiddling with some red ones I got and I have blue, yellow, green, UV, white and orange here. Total cost was like $12 shipped..

Once I decide what I like I'll order some good ones.

7th gen LED mods rainbow style anyone?

Re: Led dash light conversion

On a serious note, one of my climate control buttons was working fine when I first put them back into my car. Then it turned off and it won't come back on, tested the LED and it works fine.. any ideas what I did wrong?

I thought I might have gotten the board to hot, but it worked for a few minutes no probs.

I'll try to re-soldering it..

I thought maybe it could be a fuse, but then none of the lights would function right.

Re: Led dash light conversion

upon further investigation, there's not as many choices as there were way back when. i'd search for "01 civic reverse glow" or "01 civic guges" or similar.

when I searched for mine, I really liked these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EL-WH...#ht_2578wt_939
but I hated the stupid "Hyper" in the tach section of the overlay..

my orange led dash with cheap 5mm leds is still doing okay since 2006. those buttons were hard to find room for the leds tho.

I ground the LEDs down to almost nothing with my dremel to fit them into the buttons and re-soldered one of the joints and its all good now. I'll take some pics in the dark tonight.

That's kinda why I went with SMD LEDs. Plenty of room for them to fit
