Sub/Amp connector help
Sub/Amp connector help
So one of my friends gave me this sub/amp combo for free the other day as he upgraded to a better setup. Soon I will be getting a new head unit and was wondering what connectors I will need to get this running as it doesn't seem like a typical connector. Below is a couple photos of the inputs on the amp. I am not sure what brand the amp/sub is and I don't see any visible markings anywhere on the sub/amp box. Would be cool if I could get this running and not have to spend money on a new sub and amp. Thank In advance for any input you guys may have!

Re: Sub/Amp connector help
You need to ask him for the connectors for that. It will be a nightmare to install without them.
They are interlocking connectors. Not positive hiw they will come but they could be a pigtail (connector with wires attached) or just the connector with screw terminals.
They appear to be line level inputs meaning the signal comes from the speaker outputs on the head unit instead of the RCA outs. For a sub it shouldn't be an issue but for the main speakers it is more susceptible to alternator whine.
If he doesn't have the connectors, Radio Shack sells connectors that MAY work. Not sure they will be the right size though. If not, the pins that come in the Radio Shack connectors may fit the pins on the amp, so you could connect that way and use electrical tape to keep them from touching. Not an elegant way to do it but it would work.

Re: Sub/Amp connector help
I was intending to keep my speakers as they currently are and just use the amp for the sub. Any suggestions on how I would go about doing this? Also, whats up with the power connector? how would I get that hooked up? It seems to be some proprietary connector.
