Got the wrong double-din dash kit. Can it be "persuaded" to fit?
Got the wrong double-din dash kit. Can it be "persuaded" to fit?
Hi all
I'm installing a double-din gps unit (avic-z110bt) on my 2004 Civic Sedan.
I SHOULD HAVE purchased the Metra kit 95-7899, but by mistake I got 99-7860 (SI models).
They look awfully similar, but the part I got doesn't fit easily in the dash.
Has anyone tried to force/coax/file/squeeze a 99-7860 trim on a non-SI dash?
Was planning to install it this weekend, but if I have to exchange the trim would have to postpone it...

Thanks

Save yourself the trouble and get the one that's right for your model. You probably could fit it in there but you'll run into problems. I'd get the right one and save yourself the time and frustration.

i should chip in my experiences with these things...
i bought a trim kit that was to make my single din pioneer deck 'look' like a better fit in my 01 sedan.
after hours of frustration with the stupid thing and trying to get it fit properly, i realized that i didn't need it at all, and the pioneer one just simply replaced the stock one and looked fabulous.
not sure how double din would be different though.
hope ya got it figured out.
