Aftermarket HU & Wiring questions

Hey, I just bought a brand new head unit for my 2005 LX coupe. The HU is a Sony DSX-S100. I looked up for tutorials and DIY's and it seems pretty straight forward and easy. There are still a bit of stuff that I'm confused with, and I want to get them answered before I start my installation.

Okay I bought the wiring harness adapter, so it could make my life easier. I connected most of the wires from the Sony harness to the adapter but I left out 2 wires. One is the GROUND (black) and the other is the illumination (orange).

The GROUND wire form the Sony harness has a "crab claw" or whatever you call it. Anyway how am I suppose to connect that wire? And for the illumination, I noticed a lot of people left it out or mistakenly connect it to the "dimmer" wire from the harness adapter because it's the same color and apparently it ruins their lighting system. I don't want that to happen to my car but I know that the Sony wire for the illumination is orange and the one from the adapter is orange with white stripes. Should I go ahead and connect them or leave it out?

There's also one more thing that I need to know. Since my car has a radio code, I was wondering if I have to enter the code on the aftermarket HU after installing everything. Or does it only apply to stock Honda radio?

I know, I'm a total noob It would be really appreciated if I could get my questions answered. Thanks

Re: Aftermarket HU & Wiring questions

Just hook them up color for color
If one has a stripe, and the other one doesnt, just leave those out (Make sure you cover contact points with electrical tape!!)

Everything should work fine

You don't need your radio code

MAKE SURE YOU REATTACH ALL THE ADAPTERS (Esp emergency lights)
you dont want to take out the center console again

Re: Aftermarket HU & Wiring questions

Thanks for the info, now I can start doing my install. And what about the GROUND wire? The one from the Sony harness has a metal hook on it. How do I connect that to the wiring harness adapter?

Re: Aftermarket HU & Wiring questions

I've never seen a hook on any harnesses before....
But im sure you can wrap the black wire around the hook, and seal it somehow, maybe with electric tape, should work

Re: Aftermarket HU & Wiring questions

Cut off the crimp terminal and splice it to the harness ground.

Leave the illumination disconnected as mentioned, and tape off the ends of any unused wires.
