tweeter install help 04 civic lX

i have an 04 civic lx with after market head unit with a diamond audio d6 sub and a mrp-m500 alpine amp. i have a chance to get my hands on stock 05 civic EX tweeters with the door sails and all. looks like i can just snap them in place from my stock sail panel. how or what would i need to get this to work? are the panels differnt from LX and EX?

The EX tweeters are direct fit. You have to splice into the front door speakers, however, to power them. It is worth it; much better sound.

You have to take off the door panels to access the speaker wire.

Re: tweeter install help 04 civic lX

well, technically you should not be splicing tweeters into the front speakers. it will change the ohm load, and the deck will suffer and possibly get fried over time. honda can get away with it because the factory tweeters have such a low power consumption that it doesnt matter much. the proper way is to get front component speakers with built-in crossovers (they wire up like a single speaker would and comes with tweeter and woofer as a set), or run the 4 speakers off an external amp and the tweeters off the deck power.

Re: tweeter install help 04 civic lX

I would go with a component system with crossovers, just change the door speakers and then run the wires off the cross over to the new tweeters.
