Amplifier remote wire to fuse box
Amplifier remote wire to fuse box
Hey guys,
I'm installing a new amp into my 05 civic EX SE and need to run the remote wire. I have a stock HU, so I don't want to go in there and cut the wires up to tap into the remote wire there. I heard you can use a fuse tap and tap into something that is only powered when the ignition is in the on position and that will tell your amp to turn on. I've seen these devices that plug directly into the fuse box and include a wire so the remote wire can be spliced in:
http://www.amazon.com/Bussmann-BP-HH...2080590&sr=8-8
However, these can only be used in slots 10A or less.
My question is, what fuse slot fits my criteria of only being on when the ignition is on, and is = or less than 10A. I've looked at my fuse diagram, and these are my options: r/c mirror, Turn light, Day light, alternator, p/w relay, ACC radio, RR wiper, and meter. All of those listed are 10 or less, i just dont know if they are always powered or not.
Thanks!

Re: Amplifier remote wire to fuse box
Ya i'm sure that would work, i just don't want to cut any of the factory wires. I guess I can just stuff the wire into the 15A cig lighter fuse w/ the fuse. Kinda the same thing as a fuse tap, but not as fancy. I was hoping to go for a cleaner install.

Re: Amplifier remote wire to fuse box
Thanks for the help guys, I ended up getting a T-tap Size 14-18 gauge and took apart the panels to the cig outlet. It was a PITA to get the final panel off with the cig lighter, but 2 skinned knuckles later it popped off. Wasn't as easy as just "pull it up and back" like the Sticky said.
Re: Amplifier remote wire to fuse box
Damn, I'm trying to do the same, I actually did it before I came to this site, I have an 02 civic, and I tried running the remote wire to the cig acc fuse, my remote wire went up in smoke
So a 14-18 gauge is good? I used the factory remote wire that came in the amp wiring kit.
